Building Community, Combating Loneliness: Introducing Our New Social Circle in St Annes
At Apollo Care Blackpool, we believe that care should be so much more than the essential support people receive at home. True, high‑quality home care is about improving lives, helping people stay connected, feel valued, and enjoy the moments that make life meaningful. That’s why we’re so proud to introduce our brand‑new Social Circle in St Annes, hosted every Thursday from 2pm–4pm at Our Lady’s Parish.
This week, we held our very first session, and it was a wonderful milestone not only for us, but for the community we serve across Blackpool, Lytham, and St Annes. Our Social Circle is free of charge and open to everyone, clients, families, and members of the wider community who might benefit from companionship, conversation, and a warm, welcoming environment.
At a time when loneliness is affecting more people than ever, we’re committed to doing something meaningful about it.
Why We Created the Social Circle
When we speak to families looking for home care in Blackpool, Lytham, or St Annes, one of the biggest concerns we hear isn’t just about physical support, it’s about the emotional well‑being of their loved ones. Many older adults, particularly those living alone, experience long periods with little social contact. Social isolation can have a profound impact on wellbeing, confidence, and overall quality of life.
We wanted to change that.
Our Social Circle was developed with three core aims:
- To Combat Social Isolation
Many people in our local community don’t just need home care, they need connection. A weekly opportunity to meet others, form friendships, and feel part of something meaningful can make an enormous difference to a person’s wellbeing.
- To Support Our Clients Beyond Their Home
While we are proud to deliver high‑quality home care services across Blackpool, Lytham, and St Annes, we also want to provide opportunities for our clients to get out, have fun, and engage with the world around them. Care shouldn’t only help someone live safely at home; it should help them live fully.
- To Give Something Back to the Community
Community is at the heart of Apollo Care Blackpool. We’re not just here to deliver care, we’re here to build relationships, strengthen local connections, and create spaces where people feel welcomed, supported, and uplifted.

A Warm, Welcoming Space for Everyone
Every Thursday afternoon, Our Lady’s Parish transforms into a friendly, relaxed, and inclusive environment where everyone is greeted with a smile. Our first event was a huge success, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming more attendees each week.
Here’s what people can expect at the Social Circle:
✨ Fresh tea and coffee
✨ Biscuits and treats
✨ Games, quizzes, and light activities
✨ Friendly conversation
✨ A safe space for all ages and backgrounds
✨ Support from our caring, compassionate team
You don’t have to be an Apollo Care client to attend. You can come alone, bring a friend, or even join as a family. The only thing you need is the desire to connect.
Why Social Connection Matters
Studies consistently highlight the link between social interaction and improved health outcomes. Regular social engagement can:
- Reduce the risk of depression
- Improve cognitive function
- Boost self‑esteem
- Lower stress levels
- Increase sense of purpose
- Enhance overall wellbeing
For people receiving home care, especially those who live alone, opportunities like our Social Circle can be transformative.
We’ve already seen first‑hand the difference it can make. Smiles appeared, conversations flowed, and people left feeling lighter, happier, and more connected.
A Local, Community‑Based Home Care Provider Making a Real Difference
What makes Apollo Care Blackpool different from other home care providers in the area is our commitment to meaningful relationships. We don’t simply send carers into homes, we build long‑term connections with clients, families, and the local community.
Our Social Circle is part of our wider mission to:
✔️ Reduce loneliness in Blackpool, Lytham, and St Annes
✔️ Provide enriching opportunities for our clients
✔️ Strengthen local community ties
✔️ Offer support to all, not just those receiving care
✔️ Promote inclusion, respect, and belonging
This is what high‑quality home care should look like.
